Why you need a Doula

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. Unlike medical professionals, doulas are there to offer support and advocacy, ensuring the mother's wishes are respected and met during childbirth
and beyond.

What Are The Benefits

BIOPIC Specific Benefits

For Black, Indigenous, and all peoples of color (BIOPIC) mothers, who often face systemic inequalities and disparities in healthcare, the role of a doula is even more crucial.

Ashle

“Before discovering The Doula Project, I felt overwhelmed and uncertain about my pregnancy journey. The support from my doula transformed my experience into one of empowerment and
confidence, guiding me through each step of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. A moment that stood out was when my doula held my hand during labor, offering strength and reassurance in a
time of intense vulnerability. Despite facing financial and emotional challenges, The Doula Project provided me with the resources and support needed to navigate these obstacles successfully. I would tell other families that doula support is invaluable; it's not just about assistance, but about fostering a connection that enhances the entire birthing journey. The support I received has laid a strong foundation for my family's future, giving us a sense of security and a positive start to parenthood.”
