Bright Start Family Assistance Program

Program Overview

The Bright Start Family Assistance Program provides financial relief and resources to eligible families facing hardships. Services include:
1. Utility Bill Assistance

• Up to $75 paid directly to the utility provider (electricity, water, or gas).

2. Transportation Services

• Gas cards or ride services for medical appointments, job interviews, and essential errands.

3. Child Care Assistance

• Temporary child care subsidies and referrals to discounted programs.

Support is based on demonstrated need and the availability of program funds.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Residency: Must reside in Pinellas County or Hillsborough County.

2. Pregnancy/Child Age: Must be pregnant or have a child 18 months old or under.

3. Income: Must qualify as low-income or be unemployed (verification required).

4. Documentation:

• Proof of income/unemployment.​

• Most recent utility bill (for utility assistance).

• Documentation of transportation or child care needs (if applicable).

Registration Process:

1. Application:

• Complete the application form online or at designated locations.

• Provide all required documentation.

2. Verification:

• Applications will be reviewed within 7-10 business days.

3. Notification:

• Applicants will be informed of their approval status and service availability via email or phone.

Program Guidelines:

• Utility Assistance: Limited to one bill per household per disaster relief cycle.

• Transportation & Child Care: Services subject to need assessment and available funds.

• Funding Priority: First-come, first-served until program funds are exhausted.
